When clients ask me about Hawaii, they usually think of beach resorts and honestly, that's fair. Hawaii does beaches exceptionally well. But when I talk with travelers who already love cruising, or who want a more sustainable, intimate way to experience the islands, I often find myself sharing a different idea.

That’s why I recommend client's consider a 7-night small ship expedition-style cruise with UnCruise Adventures in Hawaii. It offers a completely new perspective to visiting the islands, one of fewer people and days built around exploration rather than crowds.

If Hawaii is on your list, but you’re craving something beyond the usual routine, this might be the kind of adventure you didn’t know you were looking for.

An UnCruise Adventures cruise experience is designed for travelers who want to do more than just see the islands. Instead of crowded beaches, hurried excursions, your days are active, flexible, and guided by experts.

You can expect:

  • Snorkeling with marine naturalists

  • Kayaking excursions

  • Guided hikes

  • Cultural demonstrations

  • Up-close wildlife encounters

The atmosphere onboard is relaxed and casual, with a strong focus on sustainability, education, and connection to the environment. It’s less about entertainment schedules and more about lived experiences. With just 36 guests on board, you'll easily connect with the other guests and staff.

Why Choose UnCruise Adventures in Hawaii Over a Traditional Resort Stay

A common question: Why not just book a beachfront resort?

Resorts offer relaxation, but they typically anchor you in one place. The Hawaii itinerary with UnCruise Adventures allows you to explore multiple islands and remote locations without the hassle of multiple flights and constant packing and unpacking. The current cruise itinerary travels from Kona on the Big Island to Moloka'i (or the reverse) with stops in on Maui and Lana'i.

It’s ideal for travelers who:

  • Prefer small group travel experiences

  • Value eco-friendly, sustainable tourism

  • Appreciate locally sourced farm-to-table cuisine

  • Want to explore beyond the typical tourist areas

  • Enjoy active, adventure-focused itineraries

In short, it transforms Hawaii from a place you visit into a place you truly experience.

UnCruise Adventures vs. Beach Vacation: Do You Miss Out?

Not at all. But the experience is different in the best way.

You’ll still have access to beautiful, often secluded beaches. The difference is how you spend your time. Instead of staying in one spot, you’re exploring coastlines, snorkeling hidden coves, and stepping into landscapes that feel far removed from crowded resort areas.

Many travelers find they don’t miss the traditional beach vacation, they upgrade it.

Is it Worth the Cost?

At first glance, a small ship cruise in Hawaii may seem comparable to, or slightly higher, than a resort stay. But the value becomes clear when you consider what’s included:

  • Accommodations

  • All meals

  • Guided excursions and activities

  • Adventure equipment

Rather than piecing together every detail, everything is seamlessly handled. For busy, active travelers, that convenience, combined with the depth of experience, often makes it well worth it.

Is an UnCruise Adventures Cruise in Hawaii Good for Families and Kids?

Yes, with the right expectations it can be.

UnCruise Adventures is best suited for families with active, curious kids who enjoy nature and hands-on experiences.

Instead of kids’ clubs and water slides, the focus is on shared adventures:

  • Snorkeling with turtles, colorful fish, and giant Pacific manta rays

  • Learning about ecosystems and conservation

  • Learning about Hawaiian culture and history

  • Exploring together as a family

For many families, it becomes a more meaningful way to travel. It is less about distractions, and more about connection.

Hawaii will always be known for its beaches. But for travelers who want something more immersive and active, with volcano and waterfall hikes, snorkeling, kayaking, biking, whale watching and an opportunity to learn about Hawaiian culture, UnCruise Adventures offers a completely different, and more thoughtful, approach to Hawaii.

Because sometimes the best trips aren’t the ones where you stay put, they’re the ones where you keep moving, discovering, and seeing what’s just around the next bend.
